Consent Management

Online safety

We get it - your data is personal. That’s why Boost, as part of Telstra, has put you in the driver’s seat with the Telstra Consent Management Service. It’s your control panel for managing how third-party apps access certain mobile network features - like Number Verification or Device Reachability.

WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH TELSTRA CONSENT MANAGEMENT SERVICE

  • See what’s being shared – full visibility into your data-sharing decisions.
  • Take control – choose what to share, who to share it with, and when to stop.
  • Change your mind anytime – update or revoke consent whenever it suits you.

Number Verification & SIM Swap

No more one-time passwords. Number Verification checks your number silently and securely and you can opt out of this at any time.

In the background, SIM Swap Detection checks whether your number’s SIM card has been recently replaced – a key indicator of potential fraud or account takeover. This is just the beginning. From fraud prevention to identity checks, future offerings will also run on the Consent Management Service. So you’ll be in control.

HOW TO GIVE CONSENT WHEN AN APP ASKS

When an app wants to use mobile network features that touch your data, Capture Consent makes sure you’re the one making the call.

You’ll see this when:

  • You’re using an app for the first time
  • Your previous consent has expired
  • You’ve said no before and the app’s asking again

Before anything happens, we make sure it’s really you. You’ll get a One-Time Passcode (OTP) via SMS to verify your mobile number.

You’ll land on a screen showing:

  • The app that’s asking
  • The feature it wants to use
  • How long it wants access

You can tweak the access duration, hit Continue to approve, or Cancel to say no. Whatever you choose, your preferences are saved and easy to view next time you log in.

HOW TO MANAGE CONSENT

With the Consent Management Service you can view and update your consent settings anytime. Just head to Consent Management and follow the instructions below.

Once you’ve chosen how you want to manage your consent—by app or by feature—it’s time to check and update the details.

Manage by App
  • When you click on Manage by App, you will see a list of applications that have used or requested access to mobile network features
  • You can click on any listed app to view and modify individual feature permissions and consent durations
  • If you’ve already given consent, you will see details such as the purpose for which the data is being used,  the expiry timestamp, the last accessed timestamp and the timestamp when access was first granted
  • You can modify the expiry duration using a dropdown list or disable access entirely by selecting Disable and confirm to save your preference
Manage by Feature
  • When you click on Manage by Feature, you will see a list of mobile network features that have onboarded onto the Consent Management Service.
  • Click on any listed feature to view which apps have requested access to it and manage individual consent settings.
  • Set a default preference, which allows you to grant or deny consent in advance for all apps using that feature. Once a default preference is set, it’s displayed as current preference and can be updated at any time.
  • See the total number of apps granted or denied access to a particular feature.
